הקרנת טרום בכורה חגיגית של סרטו הדוקומנטרי, עטור השבחים והשערורייתי "לאכול בגדול" -(Supersize Me) של זוכה פרס הבמאי בפסטיבל סאנדאנס, מורגן ספרלוק.

בתקציב מזערי, כשהוא משמש במאי, מפיק, עורך וכוכב ראשי, יצר ספרלוק סרט שגרם לתאגיד מקדונלד'ס להתפתל. הוא ערך ניסוי פשוט למדי: מה יקרה לאדם אמריקאי ממוצע אם יאכל רק מזון מתוצרת מקדונלד'ס. במשך חודש שלם הוא זלל המבורגרים ושאר זוועות לארוחת בוקר, צהריים וערב, תוך שהוא מציוד במעקב רפואי צמוד.
התוצאות צפויות, ועם זאת מחרידות למדי- מלבד עליה במשקל סבל ספרלוק ממגוון כשלים בתפקוד הגופני והרגשי שלו- מכבד שומני ועד אובדן חשק מיני.
תוך כדי חודש הבליסה משרטט ספרלוק את השתלטות תאגידי המזון המהיר על תרבות האכילה האמריקאית, ואת חלקם במחלה שהוגדרה כבר כמגיפה לכל דבר: משקל-יתר.

לאחר ההקרנה נערוך דיון פתוח בהשתתפות נציגי פעולה ירוקה, משרד הבריאות ותאגידי מזון מהיר.

ביום שלישי, 17/8, 20:00 תציג נויה כוכבי מ"כיבוש תרבות" אפשרויות מגוונות לאקטיביזם יצירתי במרחב העירוני. יהיו שקופיות וטיפים מעשיים – כל מה שדרוש כדי לקחת מחדש את זכותנו על המרחב הציבורי.

Power to the people – זכויות אדם וסביבה: האופציה הקהילתית.
ביום ראשון, 22/8, 20:00 ינחו אורלי אלמי מ"רופאים לזכויות אדם" ואילת מעוז מ"פעולה ירוקה" דיון על הסיכויים והסיכונים באופציה הקהילתית לשמירה או מאבק על זכויות אדם וסביבה.

חגיגת סחר הוגן, מסורת וחנות חדשה!
חס"ה – חנות סחר ההוגן הראשונה בישראל נפתחת במסיבת תה, שתהפוך למסורת חודשית. האירוע יתקיים בחסות All Nations Caf? ביום שני, 23/8 ב-20:00.

שלושת האירועים יתקיימו בסלון מזל, סמטה אלמונית 3, תל אביב.

דימונה - הירושימה - צ'רנוביל
בתאריך ה- 6.07.04, יום הירושימה, מקיימת "קבוצת פעולה אנטי-גרעינית" מצעד בתל-אביב לזכר קורבנות ההפצצה הגרעינית על הירושימה ונגאסקי, במחאה על הפיתוח, הייצור והצבירה של נשק גרעיני בידי ממשלת ישראל.
בשעה 11:45 מתכנסים מול משרד הביטחון בתל-אביב (בקריה - רחוב קפלן), משם צועדים לשגרירות יפן בישראל (בית אסיה ברחוב ויצמן פינת רחוב דפנה), ולשגרירות ארה"ב (ברחוב הירקון).
בואנה עם שלטים להעביר לציבור את המסר: נשק גרעיני הוא קטלני - לא/נשים, לסביבה, ליוצריו ולקורבנותיו.

שיתוף פעולה בין 'פעולה ירוקה' ו'קו לעובד' לבחינת תנאי ההעסקה במשקים האורגניים.
במכתב שנשלח בראשית חודש יולי, התרענו בפני ועדת האישורים של חברת "אגריאור", האחראית על סימון מוצרים אורגניים, על יחס לא הומני לו זוכים פועלים תאילנדים במושב שדי תרומות. בעקבות המכתב עלה הנושא לדיון בועדה אשר קבעה כי יש לקבוע קריטריונים לפיקוח על זכויות עובדים במשקים האורגניים, וכן לטפל במקרה הפרטני.
פעולה זו מדגישה כי אין לנתק את התקן "אורגני", המשדר דאגה לסביבה, ממחויבות השמירה על זכויות העובדים. באופן כללי, אנו מנסים לקדם תקינה וסימון מתקדמים של מוצרים (תקן סביבתי – חברתי, תקן סחר הוגן...), כדי שנוכל לבחור באופן מודע איזה מוצרים אנחנו צורכים.

מסע בין סביבה לחברה
12 חניכים מתנועות נוער שונות המיועדים לצאת לשנת שרות ולהנהיג את פורום תנועות הנוער לאיכות הסביבה השתתפו בפרויקט הסיום של פעילות הפורום בשנה החולפת "מסע בין סביבה לחברה"
המסע נמשך 5 ימים מהמוחרקה שבכרמל דרך יישובי אלונה (רמות מנשה) עד לחופי חדרה וקיסריה. במסע עסקנו במגוון נושאים סביבתיים הנמצאים על סדר היום של התנועה הסביבתית תוך הכרות עם המצב בשטח. את תחילת המסע, על רקע נוף יערות הכרמל, הקדשנו לקשר שבין אדם לטבע וליחסינו אל הסביבה. ביום שלאחר מכן דנו בתרבות הצריכה והשלכותיה על הסביבה תוך כדי שאנו חולפים על פני המרכז המסחרי שבכניסה ליוקנעם. בהמשך עסקנו בנושא החקלאות בארץ וכביש חוצה ישראל תוך שאנו מתקדמים בשדות החקלאיים לעבר פרדס חנה. בימים האחרונים עברנו בחדרה וקיסריה ודנו בנושאים של תכנון עירוני והקשר שבין צדק חברתי לסביבה.
פעילות "פורום תנועות הנוער לאיכות הסביבה" תתחדש בספטמבר, פעילים ומדריכים בתנועות הנוער מוזמנים להצטרף לחשיבה ועשייה.

    Supersize Me

    Pre-preview screening of the honored documentary "Supersize me" directed by the Sundance award winner Morgan Sperlock.

    On a miniscule budget, taking the roles of director, producer, editor and main actor, Sperlock created a film that made McDonald's worm in their seats. He did a rather simple experiment: What would happen to an average American if he will only eat at McDonald's? For a whole month, Sperlock ate his breakfast, lunch and dinner at McDonald's and had close medical attention.
    The results were expected, but still quite horrific. Except for gaining weight he experienced several physical and emotional malfunctions: from a fatty liver to the loss of his sexual drive.
    Through his month of burger-eating Sperlock explains how the fast food corporations took over the American eating habits and their part in the plague-like disease of over-weight.

    After the screening we will have an open discussion with representatives of Green Action, the Ministry of Health and the fast food corporations.

    Join our Fair Trade stands!
    We are now having information stands to promote the idea of fair trade and help in distributing fair trade products in Israel.
    The stands take place on Thursday evenings, Friday afternoons and Saturday evening in Tel Aviv. We are also planning other actions and are looking for new ideas. For more information -

    Kibush Tarbut around the world
    On Tuesday, 17/8, 20:00 Noya from "Kibush Tarbut" the anti-consumerist direct action group, will display a variety of options for creative activism in the urban domain. The presentation will include a slide show and practical tips – everything we need to take over our rights in the public domain.

    Power to the people – Human rights and the Environment: the Community Option
    On Sunday, 22/8, 20:00 Orly Alami from Physician for Human Rights and Eilat Maoz from Green Action will conduct a discussion about the chances and risks of the community option to preserve or fight for human rights and the environment.

    Fair Trade party, a new store!
    The first Fair Trade store is opening with a tea party, which will now be a monthly event. The event will be hosted by All Nations Caf? on Monday 23/8, 20:00

    Dimona – Hiroshima – Chernobil
    On 6.7.04, Hiroshima Day, the "Anti Nuclear Activity" group will have a march in remembrance of the victims of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in opposition on the development, creation and accumulation of nuclear weapons by the Israeli government.
    The march will begin at 11:45 in front of the ministry of Security in Tel Aviv (HaKirya – Kaplan St.), and will pass through the Japanese and American embassies.
    Please come with signs and banners that will help in passing the message: Nuclear weapons are lethal to people, the environment, its creators and its victims.

    Cooperation between Green Action and Kav LaOved to inspect the working conditions in organic farms.
    In a letter sent in the beginning of July, we informed the licensing committee of "Agrior", which is responsible to mark organic products, of the inhumane treatment received by Thai workers in the Sdei Trumot farm. Following the letter the subject was discussed in the committee which decided that criteria for inspecting the workers rights in organic farms should be set, and that the specific case should be dealt with.
    This action shows that the "Organic" label should not be set apart from the commitment for worker's rights. In general, we are trying to promote regulation and marking of products so that we can conscientiously choose the products we consume.

    Between Society and the Enviroment
    12 participants from different Youth Groups took part in this year's final project of the Environmental Youth Forum. The participants are going to volunteer in their youth groups in the following year and will be delegates in the Environments Youth Forum.
    The forum's activity will reinitiate in September, counselors and activists in youth movements are welcome to join the project.
